Stress ScreeningHigh product reliability is a key requirement for today's competitive market, and is often the only differentiating factor between one manufacturer’s product and another.

Reliability of electronic products can be substantially improved by using Thermal Stress Screening (TSS) techniques, reducing the risk of failure and subsequent damage to your all-important reputation for reliability.

During TSS, products are subjected to carefully controlled levels of stress in order to precipitate failure of weak components and assemblies. Detection of these weaknesses will improve the robustness of the product and screen out unreliable units before they reach the customer.

HALT - Highly Accelerated Life Testing

Getting your products to market quickly and ahead of the competition can be critical to the success of your product launch. One way to do this is though accelerated life testing, which can remove months, or even years from the normal test cycle. By accelerating the point(s) of failure you can determine and eradicate any design weaknesses that could be very costly later on. Design validation testing alone, does not provide sufficient confidence in the robustness of a design. Varying product environments and tolerance variations in components can cause additional product failures. The level of robustness directly affects the product reliability.

HALT uses high levels of controlled stress to detect product weaknesses. This method is far quicker than traditional long-term Life Testing. HALT dramatically reduces time-scales for product development and change evaluations. HALT is used on pre-production units to ensure designs are ROBUST.

HASS - Highly Accelerated Stress Screening

HASS is used during production to identity manufacturing weaknesses. All manufacturing and assembly processes, together with design and component tolerances, can introduce potential areas of weaknesses in a product. These areas need to be eradicated to enhance reliability. Subjecting sub-assemblies and/or finished units, to carefully controlled levels of stress, may precipitate these weaknesses. Faulty products are screened out before they reach the end customer.
